United Airlines

United Airlines is the flagship carrier of the United States of America and a subsidiary of UAL Corporation. It is the world’s third largest airline by revenue-passenger-miles. The airline is the fourth largest airline by total passengers transported.

United Airlines was established on March 28th, 1931.

The airline launched the “First Modern Frequent Flyer” programme in May 1981. In 1998, United, along with Delta Airlines, introduced a marketing partnership plan for giving reciprocal redemption between SkyMiles and Mileage Plus programmes and sharing lounges. These two airlines also attempted to forge a code-share agreement.

O ‘Hare International Airport is the primary hub of United Airlines. The secondary hubs of the airlines are Denver International, Washington Dulles, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

United Airline operates more than 550 flights departure daily, connecting over 1,000 destinations across 170 countries worldwide. The airline has global presence in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean.

United Airlines is the only US’s airline that serves all the fifty states of the country It launched service to Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, Little Rock, Fargo, Casper, Jackson and Charleston.

Over 48, 000 employees serve United Airlines. There are more than 359 aircraft in operations. The airline has put 292 regional jet aircraft on orders, including 38 Embraer EMB 170’s and 100 Bombardier CRJ700’s.

The airline includes McDonnell Douglas DC-10and several Boeing aircraft, Boeing 727, the Boeing 727-200, Boeing 767 and Boeing 777.

The national carrier is based at Chicago. The airline offers international first lounges at Chicago-O’Hare, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, New York-JFK, San Francisco, Tokyo-Narita and Washington-Dulles. The airline operates Red Carpet Club, which includes 35 lounges across 28 major airports around the world.

United Airlines is the co-founding member of the Star Alliance with Air Canada, Lufthansa, SAS and Thai Airways.
